LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a search for experienced mentors to lead teams in the newly introduced Champions Tournament, marking a significant addition to the domestic cricket season.
For the first time, these tournaments will be held in all three formats – Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup and Champions First Class Cup – as part of the 2024-25 men’s domestic cricket season.
Key features of the newly introduced Tournament of Champions include the participation of five teams – the Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions and Wolves – in each tournament, which is contested in a dual league format.
Each team will be led by former star cricketers. Mentors will be tasked with implementing PCB’s comprehensive three-year plan focusing on player development, strategic planning, team building and providing leadership support.
According to media reports, the PCB has now started the process of selecting these five mentors who will play a key role in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket.
The PCB advertisement outlines the criteria for applicants and emphasizes the need for extensive experience as a professional cricket coach or player, along with proven experience in mentoring players and coaching staff.
The advertisement further specifies that candidates must have strong management skills, expertise in player development and excellent communication skills.
Those interested are encouraged to submit their applications by August 22 as the PCB looks to finalize the mentor roles ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
