LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hold fitness tests ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh scheduled to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, sources said on Monday.
According to the source, the players who are likely to be included in the test squad are expected to be called up on August 9 as the fitness tests will take place on August 10.
Centrally contracted players together with the Test Squad will also be called to the fitness tests. The PCB is also holding the central contract announcement as they want to see how the fitness tests are going first as maintaining specific fitness criteria is one of the PCB’s top priorities.
Some of the Test team players may feature in the four-day match against Bangladesh A before the series begins. Pacers Mir Hamza and Naseem Shah are likely to be part of the Playing XI.
Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan on August 17 for a two-Test series. The first red ball match will be played in Rawalpindi from 21st to 25th August and the second will be played in Karachi from 30th August to 3rd September.
