LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday confirmed the introduction of three new domestic champions tournaments for 2024-25, aimed at bridging the gap between domestic and international cricket.
The three new events – Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup and Champions First Class Cup – will be played along with National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (regional first class tournament), President’s Trophy President’s Cup and HBL.
The tournament will feature five teams – the Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions and Wolves – competing in each Champions Cup event.
“Approximately 150 of the country’s top performing domestic players over the past three years and centrally contracted players will be available for selection (further details to be announced in due course),” the PCB said in a press release.
Additional revenue streams will include broadcast and live rights, event title sponsorships, branding rights and ticket/merchandise sales
“The Champions One-Day Cup will serve as the season opener for the 2024-25 PCB men’s domestic cricket season, with the 21-match tournament being played from September 1 to 29. The curtains will come down on the 2024-2025 PCB men’s domestic cricket season with the First Class Champions Cup to be held from May 28 to August 5.”
