ISLAMABAD: Director General (DG) of Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Irfan Ali on Tuesday said that on the strict orders of the Chief Minister, comprehensive guidelines have been issued due to unprecedented heat wave and heavy monsoon rains.
Speaking to a private news channel, he said that a heat wave is expected to hit the Punjab province during the current month, urging the people to take precautionary measures in time.
“The heat wave is likely to occur in the plains of Punjab,” he said, adding that the impact of the heat wave will be higher in major cities.
He also asked citizens to be aware of climate change and preventive measures.
The State Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning for severe heat wave conditions in upper, central and southern Punjab for the next week.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that he has reviewed and is satisfied with the pre-flood measures taken by PDMA Punjab in June and July.
All possible precautions are being taken, especially in low-lying areas, he said, adding that if the city is flooded, equipment and personnel will be deployed so that relief and rescue operations can start soon.
As directed by the CM, all departments related to Punjab will complete preparations to face the upcoming monsoon rains and possible floods and ensure the safety of precious human lives.
