Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that lasting peace in South Asia depends on a just resolution of the Jammu-Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the wishes of the people of Kashmir.
Addressing a delegation of Kashmiri diaspora activists, the Prime Minister, led by the Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, affirmed his unwavering moral, diplomatic and political support in the struggle of the people of Kashmir for its realization. the inalienable right to self-determination.
He appreciated the efforts of Kashmiri activists to raise global awareness about the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and the plight of the people of India under the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The Prime Minister reiterated that he never misses an opportunity to support Kashmiri brothers and sisters in the UN General Assembly 2022 as well as other forums like SCO and other world leaders.
Kashmiri activists thanked the Prime Minister for his continued support for Pakistan’s Kashmir issue. They also briefed him on the latest developments in the region and shared efforts to highlight Kashmir’s freedom struggle across the world.
Earlier, the federal ministry on Tuesday decided to mourn the death of Iranian President Dr Ebrahim Raisi and pay tribute to his services to the region and the development of Pakistan-Iran relations.
The federal ministers gathered under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed their condolences on the death of Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussain Amir-Abdollahia and others in the tragic incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families of all Pakistanis. The people of Iran are in a difficult moment.
Reading the resolution, the Prime Minister remembered late Raisi as a great scientist and visionary leader and said that Pakistan has lost a true and brotherly friend in his death.
He said that late Dr Raisi’s services to his people and promotion of Pakistan-Iran relations and regional cooperation will always be remembered.
Dr Raisi’s visit to Pakistan last month was an important milestone in strengthening bilateral ties. The moments spent with the late President of Iran during his visit to Pakistan will be memorable,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said.
The Federal Cabinet reiterated its decision to implement Dr Raisi’s vision for stronger Pakistan-Iran relations.
