UPPER DIR : A peace jirga was held at the Council Hall in Dir, attended by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali, District Police Officer Waqar Ahmed, and local political and social leaders. The jirga was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and attended by political and social leaders from all tehsils.
Speakers addressed the jirga, told that peace has been established in the area with the cooperation of the local people, and that the local people have a vital role in maintaining peace and security. They expressed hope that the people would continue to cooperate with the security forces. The local leaders were given responsibilities for maintaining peace and security in the area.
The local leaders presented useful suggestions to the Pakistan Army, which were accepted and appreciated. The leaders assured the Deputy Commissioner, DPO, and Scouts representative of their full cooperation, saying that the people and security forces are on the same page for the sake of peace and security. They vowed to make any sacrifice for peace and security and to stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces to maintain peace in the area.
