Addressing a group of exporters led by Mian Faryad Ahmad Raza Arai, he highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s craft heritage combined with modern design techniques to compete effectively in the international market of the furniture industry. He also said that the intricate designs and high quality of handwoven furniture in Pakistan are attracting a lot of interest, especially in markets such as Europe, North America and the Middle East.
By focusing on quality and preserving traditional craftsmanship, the furniture industry can attract premium customers willing to pay higher prices, he said. He also stressed the importance of government support in terms of policies and infrastructure to facilitate exports. Improving marketing strategies, participating in international trade fairs and forming strategic alliances with global retailers have been cited as important steps to increase exports.
Further, Kashif Ashfaq said that investment in skilled labor and modern manufacturing techniques will further enhance the competitiveness of Pakistan’s furniture industry. By utilizing its unique skills and increasing its production capacity, Pakistan can significantly increase its foreign exchange and contribute to the overall economic development of the country, he said.
