Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, while reiterating his support to Huawei for its existing and new planned initiatives in Pakistan, expressed hope that the deployment of technology will greatly help in developing the digital economy of the province.
A press release issued by Huawei here said that the federal minister visited the company’s headquarters in Beijing last week during a visit to China and discussed potential cooperation in new technologies, mobile phones, manufacturing of high-tech equipment, industry, management and automation of big data and applications security.
The Minister discussed with Huawei, Vice President of Public Service and Communications, Tiger Wei; Deputy Prime Minister of Huawei Pakistan, Ray Yu; Ms. Maya Jin, Regional Representative, Huawei Public Relations and Communications Department.
According to a press release, the minister, who saw the latest products manufactured and produced by Huawei, expressed interest in the new technology developed by Huawei and decided to develop cooperation with Pakistan.
The minister appreciated Huawei’s role as a technology giant and a global leader in innovation.
In the talk, the VP said that Pakistanis are second only to Chinese nationals at Huawei. Huawei has contributed to Pakistan for many years and successfully established an international Global Service Center (GSC) in 2018.
The minister was briefed on Huawei’s plans for several new businesses, including the creation of data centers, cultural development, research and innovation centers, and export-oriented services.
