MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday called for the interdependent development of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and assured that his government will work with the leadership of AJK to ensure the realization of mutual understanding and permanent resolution of the problem. He informed the participants that the $23 billion approved by his government has been released to the AJK government and after the visit of the HPG team, the federal minister and the electricity secretary will consult with the AJK authorities to find a permanent solution. identify problems and prevent them from happening again.
The Prime Minister asked his AJC counterpart, Chaudhary Anwar ul Haq, to form a committee by his side for necessary consultation with concerned ministries in Pakistan and asked him to take personal ownership of such issues in Pakistan.
He instructed the concerned parties to complete the construction of Mangla Phase-2 project bridge as soon as possible. As for Neelum Jhelum, federal secretary for water and Kashmir affairs minister Amir Muqam said that he will discuss the issue with Kashmiri leaders to come up with short, medium and long term solutions.
The Prime Minister thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, Minister of Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam, Chief Minister AJC, Speaker of Legislative Assembly AJC, General Secretary AJC and IG Police for their creative role and effective advice to resolve people’s demands immediately.

He pointed out that India’s ruling party would not be able to contest elections in the IIOJK under its original name, fearing public anger over India’s human rights abuses in the region.
