Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed to form a committee to resolve political issues in collaboration with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad.
The visit comes as the prime minister steps up efforts to regain Maulana’s trust and invite him to join the ruling coalition.
Fazl, on the other hand, continued to reject the results of the February 8 general election after his party’s defeat, calling the election “fake”.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister on Thursday, the Prime Minister visited Maulana’s residence and inquired about his well-being.
In his meeting with the JUI-F chief, Prime Minister Shehbaz acknowledged the veteran politician’s role in promoting the peaceful struggle for democratic values and also appreciated his religious services to the nation.
Addressing a press conference in Multan last month, the politician, whose party remains a traditional ally of the PML-N but has not joined the current government, said that without the nation, the country would always move towards “slavery”. sound protection.
Since the election defeat, the JUI-F chief has softened his stance on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and said he has no personal enmity with the Imran Khan-led party.
Maulana Fazl also spoke about talks with PTI and encouraged the environment for talks.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who is PTI’s provincial president, said the party should benefit from Maulana Fazl’s “experience”.
