KARACHI: As hot weather continues to plague Karachi with intermittent showers, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rains in the metropolis after July 20.
The rain brought the city to a standstill as streets were flooded with rainwater and traffic was also affected.
However, the PMD said despite the forecast of hot and humid weather for the next 24 hours, rain and drizzle are likely in several parts of the city today.
The maximum temperature is likely to be 35°C to 37°C, while the humidity ratio is expected to be 80%, the PMD said, adding that light-speed winds will blow from the west.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said light rain or drizzle is likely to occur at some places today. “The low pressure that caused the rain in Karachi has moved towards Oman,” he said.
He said that due to the heat, clouds may form locally and added that the weather in the city will be better for the next three to four days.
