KARACHI: Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and the Royal Oman Coast Guard (ROPCG), a delegation from Pakistan led by Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ali SI(M) T. Bt & BAR, Director General (DG) PMSA visited ROPCG HQ in Muscat, Oman for 2nd High Level Meeting.
This meeting followed the invitation of the ROPCG Commander as a continuation of the 1st annual high-level meeting held between the heads of the two organizations in September 2022 at the PMSA headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.
Discussions during the visit revolved around the establishment of a memorandum of understanding on maritime cooperation and the exchange of essential information.
Brigadier General (Engineer) Ali Saif Khalfan Al Muqabli, Commander ROPCG, appreciated the efforts of PMSA in effective enforcement of maritime law in all maritime zones of Pakistan.
The commanders of the two organizations reaffirmed their commitment to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including maritime safety and security, prevention and combating of organized maritime crime and maritime environmental protection under the Memorandum of Understanding.
The PMSA delegation also inspected units/boats of the ROPCG Fleet to assess operational readiness.
They also met with Major General Abdullah Bin Ali Al Harthy, Deputy IG Police and Customs for Operations, and the Maritime Safety Center (MSC) of Oman to explore opportunities for mutual cooperation and information sharing in maritime law enforcement.
During the visit, DG PMSA also met Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman Imran Ali, who appreciated PMSA’s efforts in ensuring a secure maritime environment and promoting regional cooperation with other friendly nations.
