Islamabad: Former federal information minister Shibli Faraz has claimed that Pakistan is facing a crisis due to political instability.
Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf said that only elected representatives can ensure increased participation in parliament while talking to the media in Islamabad accompanied by Kanwal Shauzab. He said that members of parliament are not currently elected by popular vote, but because of Form 47. “These people have no legitimacy as public representatives.”
He said the budget announced by the federal government is not good for the people.
He criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying that the commission had failed to fulfill its constitutional duties. He said, “We are worried about the ongoing litigation.” The recent general election has been criticized around the world. The UN report says the trial will be held.
Shibli Faraz said Pakistan’s economy is suffering because of unfair elections.
He made it clear that the International Monetary Fund has no soft corner for Pakistan. Only real people’s representatives can put the country on the right track, he said.
Kanwal Shauzab said that the ECP violated Article 17 of the constitution of Pakistan by unfairly excluding the largest party – PTI.
He also said that PTI candidates were being urged to contest as independent candidates.
