SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: District President of Pakistan Peoples Party and former National Assembly candidate has demanded Government to reduce the load shedding period of 22 hours in Lower South Waziristan district.
It has been said in a statement issued by the district office of the Peoples Party on thursday that in the district of Lower South Waziristan most of the people are dependent on agriculture.
On the other hand, due to unemployment, common people are facing severe difficulties.
District president has said that 90 percent of the population depends on the agriculture sector, which not only sustains the local livelihood but the landowning class supplies vegetables and fruits to various markets of Pakistan.
He expressed regret that the federal and provincial governments have treated the people of the merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhowa like a stepmother, however, continuous load shedding has made farming unaffordable for local farmers.
He expressed his anger at the silence of current MNA Zubair Wazir.
He said that concerned officials, including the Power Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi criticized for failing to communicate.
At the end of his statement, Aman Ullah Wazir called for immediate steps to reduce the negative effects of load shedding in South Waziristan.
He urged the authorities to implement measures to reduce the duration of power load shedding, so that farmers can irrigate their fields immediately.
District president has further said that most of the landowners’ gardens are likely to dry up due to electricity load shedding, because most of the farmers do not have enough money to install a solar plant to irrigate their land.
