Islamabad: Pakistan Railways Director General (PR) Dr Hasan Tahir Bukhari said on Tuesday that the department has achieved a revenue of $88 billion by the end of the financial year 2023-24 and provided modern facilities. to passengers facilitated by a standard toilet system.
Speaking to PTV news channel, he said that PR land rental income has also increased by $10 billion by 2024-25, adding that Pakistan Railways has achieved this through tireless work.
He said that his organization has decided to increase its revenue to $1 trillion in the next financial year and said that with the cooperation of the private sector, Pakistan Railways will soon achieve the set target. 40% said that revenue has increased by 40% compared to previous years.
Explaining the facilities currently offered to passengers, he said that Pakistan Railways has undertaken several ambitious projects aimed at modernization of railway infrastructure including the installation of modern international standard toilet facilities for passenger facilities.
PR said it is working to transform the railway station into a hub that meets the various needs of passengers, adding that the PR station is improving various amenities and facilities such as accessibility, waiting areas, toilets, Wi-Fi and punctuality of trains. .
He said that with the launch of the ML-3 project, we will improve connectivity with neighboring countries like China, and the modernization of railways will strengthen connectivity and catalyze Pakistan’s journey to become a global economic power.
The director general said that passengers have the option to book online and purchase e-tickets through the official website of Pak Railways or the smartphone app available on Google Play Store.
Earlier, he said that Pakistan Railways has also launched a state-of-the-art dining car for passengers and said that Pakistan Railways has also decided to improve services related to cleanliness, passenger rest and sleep.
“Also, we offer a high-class transport system, the Green Line project is an important contribution to the Railway Department,” he said.
For better crowd management, arrivals and departures will be separated when the last-mile connection is made to the metro, bus and taxi. He also said that Pakistan Railways has started modernization of major railway stations of the country with modern lines to facilitate passengers.
