Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic death of Iranian President Syed Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash yesterday. He expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the Iranian President, Foreign Minister, and other people who died in the accident.
The President paid tribute to Raisi’s service to the Muslim Ummah and expressed his support for the unity of the Muslim Ummah. He said the Islamic world has lost a great leader who always supported the Muslim cause and deeply felt the plight of Muslims around the world, especially the Palestinians and Kashmiris.
“Today, Pakistan mourns the loss of its great friend. We had the honor of hosting him in Pakistan last month. In our discussion, I saw that he wanted to strengthen our bilateral relations. Agha Raisi always held a special place for Pakistan and its people, in the capacity of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran or also serve as the custody of Imam Raza (A.S) shrine,” President Zardari said. He described Raisi’s death as a great loss not only for Iran but for all Muslims.
President Zardari said that President Raisi will be remembered and forgotten in Iran, Pakistan, and the Islamic world for his efforts to promote relations with Islamic regions and countries.
“May the Almighty God bless his soul and give patience and strength to his family and the people of Iran,” the president said in a prayer.
