Islamabad: (Zeeshan Yousafzai) A proposal has been made to convert net metering to gross metering.
According to sources, the Ministry of Energy has presented eight proposals related to solar net metering to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The Power Division has suggested that solar net metering should be converted to gross metering, and a separate tariff category should be introduced for solar net metering consumers.
Sources indicated that fixed charges may be imposed on net metering consumers. There is also a proposal to revise the purchase tariff for electricity from net metering consumers, and to set an appropriate timeframe for the payment of electricity prices to net metering consumers.
Sources have revealed that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to consult on the Power Division’s proposals and will seek the opinion of independent experts on this matter.
