Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday met Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong to discuss the protection and security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Ambassador Zaidong welcomed Naquin upon his arrival at the Chinese Embassy.
He said that the recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strengthened relations on both sides. He also confirmed the support of the Prime Minister, the President and high-ranking Chinese leaders.
The Home Minister outlined measures to protect Chinese nationals in Pakistan and discussed security plans for Chinese engineers and workers working on CPEC and other projects.
Mohsin said that a thorough and effective SOP now ensures the safety of Chinese nationals and that Islamabad has established a special force, the SPU, to protect foreign nationals.
“The protection of our Chinese brothers who work for the development of Pakistan is the government’s priority. The lasting friendship between Pakistan and China will not be broken and all conspiracies against it will be defeated,” said Naqvi.
Expressing satisfaction over the security measures, the Chinese Ambassador said that Pakistan and China are friendly and attach importance to their relations.
Federal Home Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and senior officials of the Chinese Embassy were also present in the meeting.
