LOWER DIR: To express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians, different organizations staged protest rallies against the Israel forces after the Friday prayers here in the Lower Dir district. The Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl district chapter staged a solidarity rally the participants of which marched on the roads and gathered at the Gorgorai Chowk. The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-Israel slogans were condemning bombardment of the refugees’ camp in Gaza.
The JUI-F district chief Sirajud Din, tehsil chairman Mufti Irfanud Din, religious scholar Muhammad Rahim Haqqani, Qazi Ayazud Din and others addressed the rally. They said that Palestinians, particularly women and children were being targeted by the barbaric Israeli forces in the air strikes on the behest of the United States of America (USA). The speakers termed the Israeli bombardment as an inhuman act and demanded the world power to immediately stop the atrocities in the Gaza strip. They said that Palestinians buildings were being destroyed which was against the morality and human rights. The speakers said the UN and OIC should stop the Israel from its cruelty. The speakers appreciated the Hamas fighters and said that they would succeed in their fight for freeing the soil of Palestine from the Zionist regime.
The Pakistan Muslim League Markazi also staged a solidarity rally in Timergara which was attended by party workers and general public. The rally was addressed by Maulana Fazal Rahim, Hafiz Matiur Rehman, Maulana Azizur Rehman and Shafiullah. They announced to fully support the unarmed and innocent Palestinians in their fight against the Israeli aggression in Gaza. They said that sufferings of the Palestinians were increasing day by day as the world power had kept criminal silence over the issue. The speakers said that children, women and aged people were being martyred in Gaza and refugee camps as the Israel was violating human rights. They said the Israel had illegally occupied the soil of Palestine. They demanded the UNO and world power to force the Israel to stop collateral damages and destroying buildings in Palestine.
Meanwhile, A youth identified as Rahmanullah 35, a resident of Usherai Dara was killed while another youth Naseer Shah 25 was injured when a pickup vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ravine at Katkala area in the jurisdiction of Talash here on Friday due to over speeding. The dead and the injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital Timergara. The Talash police registered a case and started investigations.
The Sui-Northern Gas Private Limited (SNGPL) regional manager Mardan division Wiqasullah Khan has said that different raids were conducted at Awleya Banda, Damamo area, Bandagai and Munjai by the company’s officials along with local police wherein illegal gas connections were disconnected and the pipes were confiscated. He said that cases were also registered against the consumers involved in the gas theft. He said the crackdown against gas theft would be continued in the district.
