Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Youth Program Talent Hunt: Youth Sports League – Provincial Handball League (Men) concludes successfully at University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila
Taxila, Pakistan – March 6, 2024 – University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, proudly hosted Prime Minister’s Youth Program Talent Hunt: Youth Sports League – Handball (Men) Provincial League from March 2 to March 6, 2024, at the Multipurpose Hall, UET Taxila. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of five teams namely Team Islamabad, Team Sakardu, Team Muzaffarabad, Team Mirpur and Team Gilgit.
Mr. Akmal Hussain, Sports Director, UET Taxila, has taken the responsibility of organizing the league, ensuring its smooth running and fostering an environment conducive to talent scouting and sportsmanship.
The closing ceremony of the provincial league was honored by the distinguished presence of prof. Dr. Qaiser Uz Zaman Khan, Vice Chancellor of UET Taxila, who presided as the Chief Guest. Next to him were special guests including Dr. Jawad Hussain, Registrar of UET Taxila, Dr. Adnan Habib, Chairman of the Sports Committee and Mr. Ghulam Abbad Hussain, Deputy Director of Security at UET Taxila.
In a speech at the event, Mr. Akmal Hussain together with prof. Dr. Qaiser Uz Zaman Khan, Vice-Chancellor, UET Taxila, expressed gratitude to all the participants, officials and supporters who contributed to the success of the league. They emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting sportsmanship, healthy competition and talent development among the youth.
Prime Minister’s Youth Program Talent Hunt: Youth Sports League aims to provide a platform for young sportspersons to showcase their skills, develop their talent and achieve excellence in their chosen sport. Through these initiatives, the government aims to promote active participation in sports, foster a culture of fitness and mental well-being, and identify and nurture future sports champions.
The Provincial Handball League (Men) witnessed some thrilling matches which showed the prowess and determination of the participating teams. Sportsmanship and camaraderie were evident throughout the event and reflected the core values of fair play and respect.
Additionally, the event received recognition from the Department of Higher Education, which further highlighted its importance in promoting sports at the university level.
As the league has come to an end, participants and organizers alike are looking forward to future editions of the Prime Minister’s Youth Talent Hunt: Youth Sports League program with the hope of continued success and growth in the promotion of grassroots sports.
