Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in close collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has successfully busted an illegal Internet Service Provider (ISP) operating in Punjab University Campus-II, Lahore.
During the attack, an operational unlicensed Internet installation was discovered. One person was arrested and related equipment including 05 OLTs and 02 ONTs were seized. FIA is conducting further investigation under the law.
The successful eradication of illegal internet service providers can be attributed to the PTA’s unwavering determination, consistent monitoring and relentless efforts to prevent illegal internet services. This action will be crucial in preventing tax evasion and income misreporting and will reduce losses to the national exchequer.
PTA urges the public to use telecommunications services only from PTA authorized operators to avoid unexpected service outages.
