UPPER DIR: In Upper Dir, the PTI-backed candidates swept the Thursday elections by winning one national and three provincial assembly’s seats for the first time, while in the 2018 election, it had won only one NA seat. The three-time elected Jamaat-e-Islami MPA Inayatullah lost its seat in the fourth round by a large margin.
The newly elected member of the National Assembly, Sahibzada Sibghatullah won the seat with a large margin of 90,865 votes, as compared to Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sahibzada Tariqullah with 48,246 votes and Najamud Din Khan of the People’s Party 37635 votes. In PK 11 Dir-1, Gul Ibrahim, an independent candidate supported by PTI, won for the first time by getting 20103 votes, while Muhammad Ali of Jamaat-e-Islami came second with 14533 votes.

In PK 12 Dir-2, Yamin Khan, an independent candidate supported by PTI won by getting 23915 votes while Azam Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami secured 12531 votes. The PTI-backed independent candidate Muhammad Anwar Khan advocate won the PK 13-Dir-III with 32,043 votes defeating the three-time MPA Inayatullah of JI who got 25457 votes.
