The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has published a white paper alleging fraud in the February 8 general elections and demanding the formation of a judicial commission to probe the “loss of 180 seats”.
“We have 180 seats [in the February 8 election]. Our seats were given to other parties through Form 47,” he said.
The PTI chief said that they have approached the Supreme Court against the false allegations. “But the petition has not been fixed for hearing,” he said.
PTI-backed independent candidates won the most seats in the National Assembly in the February 8 election, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
However, PMP-N formed a coalition government in PPP with the support of other parties and then became the only party in the lower house of parliament after the division of reserve seats.
The Imran Khan-led party lost its right to reserve seats because its members contested the election as independent candidates.
Citing the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to declare the party’s internal elections invalid, the PTI chief said in a press release today that his party was forced to contest the general election without the iconic ‘bat’ symbol.
“We lost our victory by manipulating the election results in Form 47,” he said.
The PTI chairman said the white paper was based on the reports of international organizations, foreign media, and newspapers.
He also called for electoral reforms to eliminate electoral fraud.
Addressing the meeting, PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub said that billions of rupees have been given to the ECP to conduct free and fair elections in the country.
“We demand the resignation of the Chairman of the General Election Commission,” he said.
