RAWALPINDI: PTI leader Omer Ayub said on Tuesday that party founder Imran Khan has nominated Amir Dogar for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly while Junaid Khan has been selected for the post of Deputy Speaker. The announcement was made after Ayub and other party leaders held a series of meetings with the jailed PTI chief at Adiala jail.
Dogar served as Chief Whip in NA during the PTI rule. He also served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs during Imran’s tenure. Dogar was also among several PTI leaders who were arrested in the wake of the May 9 riots. Dogar won the general election on February 8 from NA-149 constituency in Multan. He was again appointed as PTI’s chief whip in the lower house of parliament.

Addressing the media today, Ayub said that Junaid was one of the senior-most members of PTI and had proved his loyalty to the party despite countless challenges. “God willing, PTI will form governments,” he added.
