Engineer Adil Nawaz, Secretary Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Peshawar Region, called on the Election Commission to halt rigging in the presidential and senate elections. He urged the issuance of special directives to the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council, in accordance with the constitution.
The Election Commission’s actions have been aimed at undermining PTI, starting with the removal of the bat sign and reclassifying ticket holders as independent candidates with different symbols, despite their significant majority. Challenges with Form 45 and Form 47 have also arisen for PTI candidates and assembly members.
Engineer Adil Nawaz, addressing the media, deemed the Election Commission’s decision unconstitutional and illegal, promising a legal challenge. He insisted the Chief Election Commissioner should not remain in office after making an illegal and unconstitutional decision. Refusing to accept the results, he emphasized that presidential and senate elections cannot proceed until the judiciary delivers a final verdict.
The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demand the timely holding of presidential and senate elections, urging a postponement until legal matters are resolved. Engineer Adil Nawaz expressed hope for relief from the High Court and asserted his right to approach the Supreme Court on this matter.
