LAHORE: PTI has nominated Senator Shibli Faraz for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Upper House. At the behest of PTI founder Imran Khan, party senators asked the Senate Secretariat to approve Shibli for the post. This candidate is supported by all PTI senators.
After a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala jail, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIK) Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza informed that Senator Shibli Faraz has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Senate on the orders of Imran Khan.
In a meeting with Imran, it was decided that Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain, the newly formed six-party alliance of opposition parties that launched a protest movement from Balochistan last week, will also hold rallies in other parts of the country.
JIM, which is part of the alliance, will hold a meeting of six opposition parties in Lahore on April 29 to discuss the movement’s strategy and plans for initiatives across the country.
Contrary to previous reports, Imran Khan rejected the claim that Saudi Arabia was involved in any regime change operation in Pakistan.
He highlighted the support he received in the Saudi government and mentioned examples such as holding the conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and financial assistance.
PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hassan said that the movement for constitutional rule and rule of law has reached its final stage. He pointed to positive developments ahead and Imran Khan is expected to be released from prison.
Imran Khan’s directive to pursue a confident media policy is bolstered by his plan to tackle unexplored topics. PTI leader Muzzammil Aslam said he rejected Imran Khan’s statement about the Saudi government.
Discussions also included Pakistan’s economic situation, HPG talks on new programs and international donors pledging $1.8 billion at a conference in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). Imran said that the rule of law is important for the growth of trust and investment.
