Islamabad: Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin has assured farmers that Punjab government is taking immediate steps to introduce subsidized ‘Kisan Dost Revolutionary Package’ to improve economic conditions and ensure welfare.
Speaking to a private news channel, he said that the government is aware of the problems faced by small farmers and will provide all possible support to them, adding that the Punjab government stands with farmers’ associations and will not leave them alone.
“The Kisan Card initiative will show the Punjab government’s support to farmers and their prosperity,” he said.
The minister said that the government will help the farmers under the strict orders of the Punjab chief minister and the chief minister has directed the concerned officials to form a high-level committee to redress the grievances of the farmers.
He also called on the farmers to cooperate with the government.
Responding to a question, he warned that farmers have a democratic right to protest but no one can take the law into their hands.
To another question, the minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government is now taking steps to eliminate shortage of agricultural commodities and ensure food security at national level.
