Data-driven actuary Qasim Farasat, known for championing youth leadership, has received a nomination for the pivotal position of Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs at the United Nations. Backed by the Government of Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s Office, Farasat stands out with his commitment to sustainable development and youth inclusivity.
Highlights of his career include co-founding the Institute of Sustainable Development and Cooperation (ISDC) and serving as an elected executive of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
In the role, Farasat aims to boost youth engagement across the UN’s spectrum, from peace and security to sustainable development.
Commenting on his nomination, Farasat stated, “Youth leadership is the bedrock of tomorrow’s sustainable world.”
The final decision is expected in November 2023.
