MELBOURNE: After a strong showing at the Australian Open, 2021 U.S. Open winner Emma Raducanu is optimistic about the future as she attempts to regain her best form after an injury layoff.
The 21-year-old British player lost 6-4 4-6 6-4 to China’s Wang Yafan in the second round after starting her campaign in Melbourne with a commanding 6-3 6-2 victory over American Shelby Rogers.
Raducanu made her Grand Slam comeback after missing nearly eight months due to an ankle and wrist injury. She had battled with form and injuries since her incredible victory as a qualifier at Flushing Meadows.

After the last few weeks of tennis, Raducanu was asked if she was thrilled about the upcoming months. She said to reporters, “Yeah, I mean, I’m really looking forward to it because for me, I think there were doubts whether I would be able to make the Australian Open trip.”Being here, in my opinion, is a benefit and a fantastic place to start. I try to win the day and pay more attention to my level and practice days than I do to wins or losses.”I’m in a really good mood. All I truly want is to play for the entire season. The good news is that despite playing two consecutive three-setters in Auckland today, I didn’t experience any sporadic pains in my body or strength.”
