BAHAWALPUR: Gusty winds accompanied by heavy rains wreaked havoc in Hasilpur area of Bahawalpur district between Thursday and Saturday.
On Thursday evening, the weather in Bahawalpur region turned violent with strong winds followed by heavy rains. Reports reaching here said that wind storm accompanied by heavy rains have damaged trees and several electric poles in Hasilpur area of Bahawalpur district.
The rain also damaged the electricity transformer in the Hasilpur area. However, teams from the district administration and Multan Electricity Company (MEPCO) were seen busy fixing the power problems caused by the storm and heavy rain.
Heavy rains also lashed Bahawalpur, flooding the drain system in several areas of the city. Rainwater is seen collecting at several points in important city arteries. However, the Bahawalpur Municipal Corporation team has reached the site to drain the accumulated rainwater.
Other parts of the region received heavy rains such as Haipur Tamewali, Kaimpur, Lal Suhanra, Dera Bakha, Sama Satta, Azman and others. It also rains in the Cholistan desert. Meanwhile, the local Met Office has predicted more rain in the region during the next 24 hours. The rain brought down the temperature and made the weather pleasant.
