SHARJAH: Star spinner Rashid Khan on Wednesday returned to the Afghanistan line-up for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland.
Rashid has been sidelined since the ICC World Cup in India in November last year and underwent back surgery.
Rashid recently missed the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he plays for Lahore Qalandars. However, the Afghanistan captain has completed his rehabilitation and will be available for the three-match series.
Rashid also did not participate in the Big Bash League (BBL), the SA20 and the three-T20I series against India. He traveled with the team but was not fully fit.
“The plan is to represent the country in the upcoming series and training has been in full swing and luckily it has gone well and hopefully the next few days will be good so I can wear the national jersey again and continue to do well. my country,” Rashida quoted the VDO interview as published by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on Saturday (March 9).
Rashid admitted that the past three months have been difficult for him.
“The last three months were difficult because I had an operation. I suffered from a back injury for the last seven to eight months and the doctor asked me to have an operation before the World Cup, but I decided to play the World Cup and then I will have the operation because it was for us such an important event but Alhamdulillah I am back on the field and I feel good now and now I am focused on getting back on the field and bringing joy and success to the nation,” he said.
The first T20I series between Afghanistan and Ireland is played tomorrow, with the remaining two matches on March 17 and 18. All three matches will be played in Sharjah.
