The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shortlisted two venues, Rawalpindi and Multan, to host the scheduled home series against England, excluding the two major Test centers, National Stadium Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
According to PCB sources, the cricket board intends to host the three-match series in either Multan or Rawalpindi, both of which have received the green signal. It is likely that all three matches will be played at one of these two venues. The selection of either Rawalpindi or Multan as the host venue for the Test matches against England is expected to be made on Monday.
The PCB has strongly denied reports that the board is considering shifting the series to another country. Sources say that no such proposal has been presented to the PCB, nor has it been considered. The PCB had been suggested to host matches in Karachi without spectators, which was rejected.
Multan Cricket Stadium is already included in the list of scheduled host venues. However, due to weather conditions in Rawalpindi, there is a possibility that all three matches may be shifted to Multan. In this regard, senior officials of the cricket board have presented their recommendations to the PCB chairman.
It is worth noting that England has not toured Pakistan since 2005-2022, as the PCB had organized matches in the UAE during this entire period.
