RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General (DG) Kinza Murtaza has advised citizens to check the status of housing societies before investing.
She said citizens should visit RDA office or website www.rda.gop.pk to get information about legal and illegal housing societies.
She informed that 71 schemes were approved in Rawalpindi and 74 were in process while 359 schemes were illegal.
The condition of the apartment buildings is updated on the RRA website and efforts are also made to disseminate information to the public, she added.
The DG further said that the RDA authorities concerned have been directed to regularly monitor the approved and ongoing schemes besides taking legal action against illegal housing companies.
The RDA has issued legal notices to 560 schemes while 218 companies have been challenged and their cases have been sent to the magistrate court, she said, adding that 221 FIRs have also been lodged against violators.
Besides, RDA also took strict legal action against several schemes and sealed offices of 184 schemes and demolished illegal structures, offices, main gates of 200 companies.
The DG informed that the relevant authorities of FIA Cyber Crime Wing have also been asked to take action against illegal advertisements, land reservation, advertisement campaigns of illegal housing schemes. Punjab Development Authority, Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021 are being enforced and every effort is being made to take strict action as per law against those violating the rules, she added.
