SANTIAGO BERNABEU: Real Madrid produced a superb performance in a thrilling win over FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
With this win, Real Madrid have now beaten Barcelona three times in a row in one season for the first time in 88 years.
Madrid twice came from behind before Jude Bellingham scored the winner in injury time to beat the champions. As a result, second-placed Barca are 11 points clear of the table leaders with six games remaining.
The defeat followed Barcelona’s 4-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, which saw them knocked out of the Champions League.
“It’s hard to find words for it. It’s a combination of many things. We’re not as competitive as we should be and we’re worth it,” said Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to Movistar Plus +.
But the win came as Carlo Ancelotti’s side qualified for the Champions League on Wednesday after beating Manchester City on penalties.
It was a good game, we never stopped believing. We fell behind twice, but we kept fighting, we played well, we pressed and in the end. we went back in time and time again”.
For the first time in the 21st century, Barcelona led and lost twice in LaLiga El Clasico.
Bellingham also became the first player since Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2007 to score in his first two La Liga Clasicos for Madrid.
