LAHORE: The recruitment process of 3,000 nurses in Punjab hospitals is in its final stage.
The Punjab government has decided to hire nurses to address the shortage of medical staff in hospitals. A notification has already been issued in this regard.
According to the Pakistan Economic Survey, the country had a total of 116,659 registered nurses in 2020 for a population of about 200 million people. In the general wards of Pakistani hospitals, the current nurse-patient ratio is 1:40, while the Pakistan Nursing Council recommends a nurse-patient ratio of 3:10. A representative of the Punjab Health Department told APP that the provincial government is making all efforts to provide maximum facilities in the hospitals.
