Peshawar: During the recent polio campaign, 6,835 parents in Peshawar alone have refused to immunize their children against polio. Similarly, a major problem is emerging every time in the form of ‘child not available’ and 14,222 parents have been recorded as giving the excuse of child not being available.
According to the last polio campaign, 14,222 children were categorized as ‘child not available’.

During the polio campaign in 2022, 19 people were targeted, including 7 martyrs, 12 injured and one hostage.A female polio worker was also included among the martyred.
During the polio campaign in 2023, 22 people were targeted, including 6 martyrs, 11 injured and 5 hostages.A woman polio worker was also among the victims.
So far this year, 51 polio workers and police personnel have been targeted during polio duty, including 14 martyrs and 37 injured.

The most violent year during the polio campaign in the last five years is 2024, which still has six months to go.
