Industry and Manufacturing Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain spoke to the media. The government has formed committees to provide relief in electricity bills. Rana Tanveer Hussain said that a cut of Rs 50 billion has been made from the development budget to provide relief to consumers of up to 200 units. The minister said that a relief of Rs 10 per unit will also be given to the industry. He added that the public will get relief on their electricity bills in the coming days, but it will take time.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said that negotiations are underway with IPPs for agreements. He also said negotiations are underway to shift gas and other power projects to coal. The minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the matter with the Chinese President during his visit to China.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the cost of generation will come down if power plants switch to coal. He added that today’s cabinet meeting was not about PTI or its founder Imran Khan. Rana Tanveer Hussain said that Imran Khan himself admitted that he had sent workers to GHQ and now he is moving away. He said that the confession of Imran Khan is that he went to the house but did nothing.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said the brainwashing of PTI workers is evident and Imran Khan warned of a reaction if he is arrested, which is being seen now.
