LAHORE: State and Federal Taxation Ombudsman (FTO) Coordinator Meher Kashif Isunis said that in a major achievement, FTO has integrated remote districts like Hub and Mianwali into its network.
Addressing an orientation session with businessmen here on Tuesday, he said the development was the first time in the country’s history that taxpayers had been mobilized to directly address their grievances to the Federal Board of Tax Collectors (FBR).
He said the expansion of the network reflects the government’s commitment to improve tax administration and ensure fair treatment for all taxpayers regardless of their geographic location. By bridging the gap between remote areas and the central tax administration, the initiative aims to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in tax collection.
Meher Kashif said that the FTO Network Access Hub and Mianwali provide taxpayers with a mechanism to address issues and complaints regarding tax violations. It fosters a culture of accountability and fairness in the tax system, thereby fostering trust and understanding among taxpayers.
This achievement, said FTO Dr. Asif Mahmud Jah, showed the progress made in developing Pakistan’s tax infrastructure and creating a fairer environment for taxpayers.
Regarding case resolution, the coordinator said that 2,115 taxpayer complaints were resolved in the first quarter of the calendar year across the country. He said that the FTO cannot be called once and the aggrieved taxpayer can approach the nearest regional office for immediate action on the complaint.
