LOWER DIR: Residents of Kambat in Samarbagh tehsil on Wednesday rejected the stance of political parties on the preliminary delimitation and threatened to launch a protest movement if the union councils of Kambat, Darangal and Miskini were again included in PK 14. Talking to local journalists at Samarbagh, workers of different political parties said that the union councils of Kambat, Darangal and Miskini were included in PK-18 according to wishes of its residents. They said that earlier these union councils were part of PK-14 which was not acceptable to local residents. The activists said that some of the political parties wanted to exclude these union councils from PK 18. They demanded the election commission of Pakistan to maintain the proposed delimitation.
The residents of Maidan have also expressed satisfaction on the current delimitation plan and demanded of the ECP to make no changes in the preliminary delimitation regarding the provincial assembly’s constituencies in Lower Dir. Talking to local journalists at Timergara, workers of different political parties said that they were happy with the proposed delimitation though some political parties were opposing it.
According to the preliminary delimitation, the Lower Dir district has five provincial assembly seats which are PK 14, PK 15, PK 16, PK 17 and PK 18. The PK-14 Lower Dir-1 has the Lal Qila tehsil and three union councils of Balambat tehsil including Lajbok, Hayaserai and Balambat. Similarly PK-15 Lower Dir-11 has the Khall tehsil, Balambat tehsil excluding its three UCs and Kotigram union council of Adenzai tehsil. The rest of Adenzai tehsil has been made PK-16 Lower Dir III, Timergara tehsil and Munda tehsil excluding UC Mian Kalay has been declared PK-17 Lower Dir IV while Samarbagh tehsil and UC Mian Kalay of Munda has been declared PK-18 Lower Dir V.
