The government of Pakistan has taken an important decision regarding the Pak Iran gas pipeline project after 15 years. According to media reports, the Federal Cabinet Energy Committee approved the laying of an 81 km pipeline from the Iranian border to Gwadar.
Media sources say that the construction of the pipeline from the Iranian border to Gwadar will cost 45 billion rupees. With this decision, the sword of huge fine hanging over Pakistan will be removed. Media sources said that by laying the pipeline, Pakistan will avoid paying 18 billion dollars in fines and will get 750 million cubic feet of gas from Iran at very cheap prices compared to LNG.
More than 5 billion dollars will be saved annually. Iran will withdraw the notice of 18 billion dollars penalty. Pakistan will also ask the US for exemption from sanctions on the IP project. Iran is buying and selling gas with Turkey and Azerbaijan, on which restrictions are not applicable but in the case of Pakistan, US policies have often been different.
Therefore this series should end now and our leadership should also speak bluntly with our allies for the betterment of the country that the life of the citizens is being badly affected by the lack of energy in the country.
On the other hand the caretaker In the Cabinet Energy Committee meeting presided over by Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, a recommendation has been given to build an 80 km pipeline to the Iran border to import gas from Iran.
The pipeline will be built from Gwadar to the Iran border. The Cabinet Committee has approved the recommendations of the Prime Minister’s Ministerial Committee established in September 2023. Analysts and commentators who monitor Pakistan-Iran relations have termed it as an important development and termed it as a good omen for the region.
The readers will remember that some time ago the situation became very critical due to the tension between Pakistan and Iran on the border but then the situation returned to normal as a result of the excellent diplomacy between Pakistan and Iran and now this new development has given confidence in the ideal relations between the two countries.
Analysts have given more hope that the said gas pipeline will play an important role in maintaining the excellent relations between the two brotherly countries. Now it has to be seen how quickly our leadership can implement this decision.
If the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project starts working, it will not only reduce the energy crisis in Pakistan but also improve the relations between the two countries, which have been suffering from ups and downs for years.
It should be remembered that this pipeline has also been given the name of peace line, which can truly sustain peace and harmony in both countries and especially in the region. The better the Pakistan-Iran relations, the more delegations will be exchanged between the two countries besides the trade will increase at the local level which is equivalent to not happening.
It has long been the desire of the intelligence and capitalist community of both countries that Pakistan and Iran should come closer so that they can truly represent the Islamic world and play their role in solving their problems.
It is also the wish of the people of the region that by taking advantage of the normalization between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Pakistan and Turkey should also take a step forward and speed up the work to further promote peace and trade in the region.
Although the products of these countries have started to be seen since the start of the cargo train service between Pakistan, Iran and Turkey, if free trade agreements are made between these countries by improving the measures, the situation can be improved.
Looking at the above progress, it can be hoped that if the contacts between these four major Islamic countries of the region are made more active, then the time is not far when the economic conditions in the region will improve in addition the people will come closer.
