RAWALPINDI: Pakistan pacer-turned-batsman Mohammad Rizwan scored a crucial run in the T20I against New Zealand in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
In his 79th T20I match, Rizwan became the fastest batsman to score 3000 T20Is, surpassing the joint record of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, who both reached the highest in 81 innings.
Achieving this feat made Pakistan’s Rizwan the second after Babar to reach 3000 runs in T20I cricket.
Rizwan scored an unbeaten 45 off 34 balls, chasing the 91 set by the Black Cage in Pakistan.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, who took Multan Sultans to the PSL 9 final, is a leading contender for Pakistan’s vice-captaincy in the shorter format. An official announcement of his appointment is expected soon.
