ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination chaired the meeting of the Working Group on Global Warming and Heat Waves.
Addressing the gathering, he stressed the urgent need to protect food, health and the economy from heat waves and floods.
He said that the coming monsoon rains could cause devastating floods and relief camps set up in vulnerable areas should be widely publicized to ensure access to the victims.
Alam mentioned the importance of using all media platforms including digital, electronic, radio and mosque loudspeakers to effectively communicate information about relief camps.
He also emphasized the need for joint efforts to combat this disaster, saying, “the threat cannot be stopped, but it can be solved.”
He also urged the authorities to solve the critical issue of cutting trees and throwing zeros on trees as these activities can damage bridges during floods in KPK and Kashmir.
The decisions taken in the two working group meetings held on June 7 and 14 were reviewed in detail.
He said that the department that contributes to my efforts to overcome the socio-economic impact is my team and the ministry will guarantee all possible support at all levels because the country’s vulnerability to disasters will be reduced through coordinated efforts between federal and provincial departments such as National and Provincial Disaster Management. institutions, health, education, agriculture, water and energy departments.
He emphasized the need for disaster risk reduction or preventive measures to address the socio-economic impact of disasters.
The meeting discussed the steps to be taken during the current heat wave and to prevent any untoward incident in the upcoming monsoon season.
The meeting was attended by provincial government officials, representatives of the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of National Health, Services, Regulation and Coordination, Ministry of Meteorology Pakistan, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. via video link.

They reported that most measures have been completed, such as setting up relief camps, resource mapping, neutralization and implementation of emergency plans, as well as public awareness campaigns, stock taking and mock-ups.
