LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has shared his observations and concerns regarding Pakistan cricket team’s preparations for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh and England.
In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Butt highlighted the lack of guarantees in Pakistan cricket and the critical need to calculate risks to achieve significant success.
“There are no guarantees in Pakistan cricket. You have to take these calculated risks. There is always an element of risk before big successes happen,” Butt said.
Addressing the composition of Pakistan’s bowling attack, the former captain pointed out considerable concern.
He suggested that Pakistan might opt for a green pitch to use their medium pacers against England. However, he also pointed out a potential downside.
“Pakistan have medium pacers; we don’t have real pace. We can probably go with green pitches against England. But when you prepare a green pitch, your batsmen start to feel the tension. When you create a spin-friendly pitch, you start to worry England’s spinners. There is a certain skill set, which will help you win these Test Games where bowlers and batsmen have an equal chance,” he added.
The matches will be held in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25 and in Karachi from August 30 to September 3. Then Pakistan will host England in three Tests in Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi during October.
