UPPER DIR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal’s Directorate of Administration and Law Department organized a one-day seminar on the role of youth in reducing and mitigating disaster risks. The seminar was held in collaboration with the District Youth Office and Rescue 1122. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Khaleeq Jan, District Youth Officer Jahanzeb Pasha, Rescue 1122 Incharge Jehangir Khan, Deputy Director Administration Arshad Iqbal, Dr. Mariam Qasim, Abdullah Advocate, Dr. Afzal Mahmood, Village Council members, and a large number of students.
The resource person, Dr. Muhammad Israr, discussed various aspects of the topic. He emphasized the importance of preparing youth for disaster risks and establishing community-based organizations to mitigate the effects of disasters. He also stressed the need for awareness, preparedness, and provision of necessary equipment and resources.
Rescue 1122 Incharge Jehangir Khan highlighted the crucial role of youth in disaster response and rescue operations. He appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth in providing aid and support during disasters.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Abdul Khaleeq Jan thanked the organizers and emphasized the need for awareness and preparedness in the face of increasing natural disasters and climate change. He stressed the importance of training and organizing youth to effectively respond to disasters and emergencies.
