Islamabad: The Supreme Court ordered an advertisement to summon Qasim Suri in the election malpractice case.
A hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding the appeal against the dismissal of the former Deputy Speaker of the DPR Kasim Suri.
Despite being summoned, Suri did not appear in court again.
The court ordered an advertisement to summon Suri and asked him to post a notice outside Suri’s house. Chief Justice Kazi Faiz Isa said Suri’s brother, Bilal, denied receiving the message, according to records.
Speaking to Suri’s lawyer, Naeem Bukhari, the Chief Justice said, “Your client is very active in the media and social media. Naeem Bukhari replied, ‘I don’t watch TV.’
The “Chief Justice” asked the CJP, “You yourself are a TV personality and you don’t watch TV.” Are you familiar with X or Twitter? Buhari replied: “I don’t use social media, I don’t know how to use it.”
“Why do you think you are old, be young and modern,” said the Chief Justice. Buhari replied that he is old now. Judge Irfan Saadat said, “You said on a TV program that you don’t let your friends grow old.”
Bukhari told the court that he had no contact with Qasim Suri. In his speech, the Chief Justice said that the next hearing will be held in July and the next date will be decided by the court. The court then adjourned the hearing to next month.
