ISLAMABAD: Due to security concerns, Section 144 has been imposed in Punjab and Islamabad, which prohibits assembly, procession or protest.
The measure comes as part of heightened security protocols due to expected protests and the prevailing threat of terrorism.
The capital city authorities warned that any violation would be punished with strict measures.
Violation of Section 144 cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” stated the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Islamabad police force has been deployed to ensure compliance and citizens are urged to avoid any illegal activity.
Similarly, the Punjab Home Department has announced a province-wide enforcement of Section 144 from July 26 to July 28.
The announcement by the Ministry of Interior emphasized that public gatherings, rallies, sit-ins and protests are prohibited during this period. Authorities have emphasized that such gatherings could be a soft target for terrorist activities.
“The administration will ensure the execution of the order in Punjab,” the notification said.
