Security forces ‘carried out over 7,000 anti-terror ops’ in less than 3 months

Pakistan’s security forces conducted 7,745 anti-terror operations between April 1 and June 10.
According to sources, this operation was carried out in Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Of these, a maximum of 4,902 were held in Balochistan, 2,770 in KP and 142 in Sindh.
A total of 181 militants were killed in this operation, 128 were neutralized in KP, 51 and two were shot dead in Baluchistan and Sindh respectively.
In May alone, security forces killed 42 terrorists in KP and neutralized 12 more in Balochistan. Meanwhile, 61 militants were arrested in two provinces last month.
In an anti-terrorist operation across the province, security forces killed seven terrorists and arrested two while trying to cross into Pakistan at the Afghanistan-Zhob border.
Five other militants were shot dead and one was arrested while trying to intervene in Pishin and Killa Abdullah
In addition, two dead attackers, including an Afghan citizen, were arrested along with their operatives.
Security forces seized arms and ammunition, including explosives, four suicide vests and 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the terrorists.
In KP, security forces killed 12 terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, while 19 people were killed in North Waziristan.
In addition, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) network involved in the Bisham suicide attack that killed five Chinese nationals in March was arrested along with the terrorists responsible who are facing trial.
The information came a day after 11 terrorists were killed in seven Army martyrs during an intelligence operation in Lakki Marwat district.
Last week, a Pakistan Army soldier, along with a captain, was martyred when an improvised explosive device (IED) hit a security force vehicle in Lakki Marwat district.
Pakistan has again raised concerns about the use of Afghan soil by various militant groups and the Afghan Taliban government.
Recently, there have been reports of an increase in terrorist attacks against Balochistan and KP in recent months.
According to the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) released in April this year, at least 92% of deaths and at least 92% of attacks in Pakistan are related to terrorism operations and security forces. It was registered in the first quarter of 2024 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
The report said at least 432 violence-related deaths and 370 injuries among civilians, security personnel and illegal operations were caused by some 245 terrorist attacks and counter-terrorism operations.
Among the 432 dead, 281 were civilians and members of the security forces.
