Peshawar: Another series of rains, strong winds and snowfall in upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to begin from the evening of March 10, a Meteorological Department official said here on Friday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a notice to all district administrations to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
Landslides due to snowfall and rains are expected in the upper districts as the PDMA has issued a directive to the district management to ensure availability of heavy equipment.
Meanwhile, the PDMA urged the public to stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings and structures, signboards and billboards.
Tourists and locals in sensitive upland areas have been advised to be aware of weather conditions and take precautions. While in sensitive areas, messages to the district administration will be conveyed to the local population in local languages.
In any emergency situation, all concerned organizations have been advised to remain vigilant in maintaining road links and provide alternative routes for traffic in case of road closure.
Rain and snow are likely to continue intermittently until March 14.
