ISLAMABAD: Shabbir Ahmed Shah, an illegally detained senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has urged Kashmiris to observe Indian Republic Day, January 26, as a Black Day, to send a message to the world that India’s continued denial of their right to self-determination contradicts its claims to be a democratic country.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, speaking from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail, claimed India’s illegal and forcible occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is acceptable to Kashmiris.
He said the country that is severely involved in killing and destruction in occupied Kashmir and holding millions of Kashmiris hostage at gunpoint has no right whatsoever to mark its Republic Day. He stated that the entire world is aware that India is a usurper who has consistently trampled on Kashmiris’ ambitions while putting them under unlawful military occupation for the past 76 years.
The APHC senior leader reiterated the Kashmiris’ determination to see the ongoing freedom movement through to its conclusion, despite Indian state terrorism. He stated that the Kashmiri people have made incomparable sacrifices during the past many decades and would continue their resistance unless they attain their cherished objective of freedom from Indian unlawful occupation.
