Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi praised Indian cricket star Virat Kohli for his willingness to visit Pakistan.
Speaking at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Karachi on Saturday, Afridi praised the former Indian captain’s gesture and said he was not surprised by Kohli’s comments.
“I expect such words from Virat. I welcome Virat whether he comes to PSL or with the Indian team,” Afridi said.
Kohli’s desire to visit Pakistan in 2022 was revealed in a video interview with Pakistani mountaineer Shehroz Kashif.
Kohli said he wanted to visit Pakistan soon and said, “I salute you and all your friends. We hope to visit Pakistan soon. Everyone has arrived today.”
Afridi shared his thoughts on the current affairs with the Pakistan national team. Emphasizing the need for a strong opening batsman, Saim identified Ayub as a promising talent.
“Saim has a lot of talent. I hope he does well. Pakistan needs a batsman who can play well in the first six overs,” said Afridi.
